Is there room to grow in your company?
Author: Administrator
The path to your promotion may already be decided at the job interview.
When applying for jobs, seek out companies with opportunity for advancement. The company size, market success, and type of business the company is engaged in will all be factors in this. Large corporations with many sales branches offer plenty of promotion possibilities at any given time, but small companies may also provide lots of opportunities for promotion if there is enough going on so that you won’t be forced to sell for only one department for a decade without any chance of getting promoted or transferring to another department. And always ask if the company has a “promote from within” policy.

A Better Packaging means a Better Job
Author: editor
It is good to have self confidence. It is even better to know how to utilize what you already have. However, all of us have something to improve. In our world today, it is not enough to have knowledge only on our degree. It is hard to be an expert in every field, but we can still try our best to know a few things on disciplines other than our expertise. A higher position means handling different activities that may or may not be in the degree you have studied. So, it would be to your advantage if you take a couple of courses that would increase your knowledge. Make sure to learn about public speaking as well. Higher positions usually mean greater opportunities to talk to others in behalf of the company. So sharpen your public relational skills to be able to represent well. Honing your skills and continuing to improve on yourself will definitely catch the eye of your bosses.

Extra Work is Extra Promotion!
Author: editor
One does not get a promotion magically. If you are aiming for a higher position, you should work hard for it and show that you are interested. Just like the day of your interview, always come earlier than your expected time and dress like a professional. If your office is not really that formal, then wear something nicer. Be active and volunteer to work late or ask for additional duties, if you still can. Once you have shown that you are reliable and more than happy to serve the company, then there is a higher chance that they would recognize what you have given and add you to the “to-be-promoted” list. Remember, giving things a little extra goes a long way.

Marketing is Much Like Math
Author: editor
Most of us thought that “we are going into marketing anyway, so we really do not need math”, but only some were able to give importance to the skills that the subject gives. Much like the dreaded subject, sales requires our full understanding. We should be able to know the ins and outs of the product we are selling so that we would know its different applications. When the customer presents their personal dilemma, the sales person must be able to know how to solve this using the product s/he is selling. The sales person can also use different techniques once the topic suddenly changes. S/he must be able to talk in a fluid manner, without showing shock or confusion. But to top all of this, s/he must be able to have great humor to lighten up the mood and lessen the tension between him/her and the customer.

Sales People are Just Like Guidance Counsellors
Author: editor
Real sales people are not like the liars and sweet talkers that most of us would expect. In fact, they are just the opposite. Sales people are like our usual guidance counsellors or psychologists who simply want to help others solve their problems. They listen to the customer and try to decode the source of their worries. They converse showing a genuine interest to the customer and his/her story. They do not sugar-coat anything and they know how to be straightforward and frank. At the same time, they are able to utilize the knowledge that they have acquired so far to encourage their customer that the product will help them in improving their lifestyle.
